How Does True Independence Look like?

Independent means freedom from outside control or support. In other words “to do what you want/suppose to do having own law to be obeyed” keeping this idea in mind let’s talk about it.

Do you really have freedom?

Do you really feel independent when you get up in the morning?
What do you think about that automatic movement of hands towards the mobile screen even before fully opening eyes? Is social media addiction not a bondage? I call it a life threatening trap to use a phone in the morning. Even after knowing the sensor would kill your energy for the day and eventually lead to depression and to cancer still we do the same.

What do you think about that boy? Whom you saw picking up bottles while travelling to work. That shabby girl with a dirty dress stretching her right hand towards you expecting to get a penny for the small boy carried on her shoulder. And a minor boy pushing a trolley filled with garbage.
Since you are reading this article in english I suppose if not much still you are just little educated. But what about those children who have no privilege yet?

Well when I called you “little educated” your eyes would have flashed with blue shadow.

But, what do you think about that one vote? Which you know it’s much more precious, still punched for the one who is of your caste, area, religion or just because he stood against the one who is not of your circle. Or even for a small amount of money. Where did you apply your qualifications even after knowing your chosen Sarapanch will not be able to bring any growth to your village and it can cause poor and farmers to suicide.

What do you think about those hatred viral videos and News channels? Who fueled anger in your heart towards other groups of people. They gave hate speeches on the live program but in real life lived selfishly. While you scream at your friends and families saying, “I hate that religion people”.

But hei.. Stop… wait.. Are you still the same when it comes to your close friend who is of other religion? Or your neighbour who is not of your religion? I am sure you must be proud of them in front of others. If you understand your close friend who is not of your religion still so good then why to bookmark those news channels who create division in the society.

Now let’s jump to one of the most important parts of independence: It’s our culture.

There are many cultures, climates, and people to discover in our country Bharat, a country with vibrant diversity. With its infinite snows in the Himalayas, the cultivated peninsula of South, Across the West are deserts, while the East is home to humid deltas, a switch from the hot, dry climate of the Central Plains to a cool forest foothills. Our lifestyles are a testament to its geography.

Various foods, clothing and habits are associated with the place of origin of an Indian.

Indian culture varies like its vast geography. Ancient cultures and practices are scientifically proven to be one of the most advanced types of medicine. Although people speak different languages, dress differently, adhere to different religions, and eat different food, they exhibit the same temperament. No matter whether the celebration is joyous or sorrowful, people share their feelings wholeheartedly. The support of neighbours and friends can ease grief during a time of sorrow.

What do you think about ignorance of culture and heritage? Did swachh bharat really make sense to us? Do we really love our culture or have we adapted to westernization?

We possess precious freedom in this country. Freedom that many people in the world do not have. Like, freedom to choose any career, freedom to choose to follow any religion, marry anyone, express any idea, live anywhere.

Is that enough to be called independent or freed in person?

Do you really do what you want to do with your life?
Do you not tell lies even without liking it?
Do you not boast even knowing it is not liked by others?
Do you not look at things which you decided not to look at?
Are you not lazing yourselves ever after knowing the importance of time?

If yes you do the things that you hate. Then you are a slave to your body’s desire and pleasure.

Apostle Paul says in the Bible,
“I know that nothing lives in me, that is sin in my flesh; for I have desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.
For I do not do the good I want to do. Instead, I keep on doing the evil I do not want to do.
And if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.”

If you think this was not the story of your life, then I urge you to read it again.

When we want to do what is good don’t we feel the presence of wrong/evil who whispers in our ear for procrastination. Those selfish desires, worldly pleasure, temptation, laziness, our past sins stay so close to us that it hinders our good works.

Why is it so?

We are under the bondage of sin. We are not independent or freed yet. Guilt of yesterday kills our present and future. Not only this, we must know that “the wages of sin is death”. Well, you may think; I have not done any big crime that law would hang me. Sin is sin, whether it is small or big. James writes in his book in the Bible

“Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death”. (James 1:15)

Don’t you feel the small mistake that you did in the past has led you to do the bigger mistake? Remember, bondage of sin leads to eternal death.

What should you do now?

Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin”(John 8:14). To be freed from sin and guilt, God has prepared the way through Jesus Christ. He died on the cross for all our sins, that we believe in Him and get freed from sin and guilt and live joyful life.

Jesus said to the Jews who believed in Him, (John 8:31-32) “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciple, and you will know the truth, and the truth shall set you free (give you true independence).

Do you want to get real freedom and be independent?
Do you want to do what you desire/like?
Do you want to experience real joy?

Know the Bible, Bible will tell you about the truth and truth will set you free.

Jesus Christ did not come to form any religion. He came to set us free from all sins and guilt. For He is the author and finisher of salvation.

God bless you
Happy 75th Independent Day to all my Indians
