Dear Lord, we long to see your face,
to know you risen from the grave,
but we have missed the joy and grace
of seeing you, as others have;
yet in your company we’ll wait,
and we shall see you, soon or late.
Dear Friend, we do not know the way,
nor clearly see the path ahead;
so often, therefore, we delay
and doubt your power to raise the dead;
yet we with you will firmly stay–
you are the truth, the life, the way.
We find it hard, Lord, to believe.
Long habit makes us want to prove:
to see, to touch, and thus perceive
the truth and person whom we love;
yet when in fellowship we meet,
you come yourself, each one to greet.
You come to us, our God, our Lord.
You do not show your hands and side,
but give, instead, your best reward
as in your promise we abide.
By faith we know and grow and wait
to see and praise you, soon or late.
प्रिय भगवान, हम आपका चेहरा देखने के लिए तरसते हैं,
यह जानने के लिए कि आप कब्र से उठे हैं,
लेकिन हमने आनंद और अनुग्रह को खो दिया है
आपको देखने के लिए, जैसा कि दूसरों के पास है;
फिर भी आपकी कंपनी में हम प्रतीक्षा करेंगे,
और हम आपको जल्द या देर से देखेंगे।
प्रिय मित्र, हम रास्ता नहीं जानते,
न ही आगे का रास्ता स्पष्ट दिखाई देता है;
इसलिए अक्सर हम देरी करते हैं
और मुर्दों को जिलाने की तेरी शक्ति पर सन्देह करता हूं;
फिर भी हम आपके साथ मजबूती से रहेंगे–
तुम सत्य, जीवन, मार्ग हो।
प्रभु, विश्वास करना हमें कठिन लगता है।
लंबी आदत हमें साबित करना चाहती है:
देखना, स्पर्श करना और इस प्रकार अनुभव करना
सत्य और वह व्यक्ति जिससे हम प्यार करते हैं;
फिर भी जब संगति में हम मिलते हैं,
तुम स्वयं आओ, प्रत्येक को नमस्कार करने।
तुम हमारे पास आओ, हमारे भगवान, हमारे भगवान।
आप अपने हाथ और पक्ष नहीं दिखाते हैं,
बल्कि इसके बदले अपना सर्वश्रेष्ठ प्रतिफल दो
जैसा कि हम तेरे वचन में रहते हैं।
विश्वास से हम जानते हैं और बढ़ते हैं और प्रतीक्षा करते हैं
जल्दी या देर से आपको देखने और आपकी प्रशंसा करने के लिए।
